Before you begin
Only parents from Northampton High School who have agreed to participate in the proof of concept with Swotly will be able to complete the steps below. You should have received an email from Swotly, inviting you to use these instructions. If you're unsure if you've been invited please contact our support team.
How to enable the Alexa Skill
The Alexa Skill isn't yet publicly available. It is only available to those who agree to use a beta-test version of it. The following steps explain how to agree to the beta test and how to open the Alexa Skill.
Agree to the beta-test
You may have received an automated email from Amazon that describes how to enable the Alexa Skill. However, a number of people found the email confusing while others reported they never received it.
So, instead, please use the following steps:
If you are reading this email on a phone that has the Alexa app installed:
- Click here to accept the invite to the Alexa Skill for Northampton High School.
- You should be prompted to open the Alexa app on your phone
- Click Open Alexa
- Click Test Skill
- Click Enable to use
If you are reading this email on a laptop, PC, or phone that doesn't have the Alexa app installed:
- Click here to open the Alexa web app. If prompted, enter your Amazon credentials.
- Click here to accept the invite to the Alexa Skill for Northampton High School.
- Click Test Skill to confirm you're happy to use the test version of the skill
- Click Skills on the left to see the list of skills available to you
- Click Your Skills towards the top-right to see the list of skills you've already enabled
- Click Dev Skills towards the top to see the beta-test skills that you've been invited to.
- Click Northampton High School
- Click Enable
Open the Alexa Skill
Once you've enabled the skill you can start interacting with it by saying to an Alexa device, "Alexa, open Northampton High School"
Please note, to protect the privacy of students and users, you will be asked to enable voice recognition and to create a Swotly account. Please listen to the instructions from Alexa when you launch the skill.
